The Living Green Festival is a Vegan, Cruelty -Free event which also showcases local "green" business in Canberra. This includes a wide variety of stallholders on display including vegan bakeries, double glazing window companies, Wildlife Rescue centres, cruelty-free beauty products, fair trade products, vegan produce stalls and other stands which spread the word about how to live "green". This family friendly event encouraging "a kinder shade of green", is now in its 5th year and it increases in popularity every year.

Held in Albert Hall in Yarralumla, The Living Green Festival aims to lead the way in low carbon, environmentally friendly events. It has its own system in place for reducing the festival's own carbon footprint. Every Living Green Festival uses compostable serving ware for all food served on the day and because all food consumed at the event is plant based, the food waste can all be composted. This greatly reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfill after the event.

Albert Hall is a beautiful location to hold this event. Built in 1928 it has a lot of old-world charm and character to enjoy as you wander the markets. There will be over 80 food and market stalls to enjoy in the hall, as well as live music, food stalls and free Kids Zone activities outside.

The market will be held from 10am - 4pm so you can also enjoy a late breakfast, lunch and sweet treats as you wander around.
Sweet Bones Bakery Café in Lonsdale Street in Braddon will be there, showing their cruelty-free, vegan and organic cakes and beautifully made treats. At Sweet Bones they believe in ingredients that are grown organically, free of pesticides and full of natural flavour.

Another bakery business attending the festival is Vegananarchy - which is an egg free, dairy free, 100% vegan catering business. They specialize in cupcakes and can be seen at the Old Bus Depot Markets each Sunday and Gold Creeks' monthly markets . They will be selling their cupcakes at the festival and will also be running a Vegan BBQ outside on the patio selling Veganarchy sausage sandwiches, schnitzel burgers, and traditional patty burgers. You can also buy these products to cook at home. Just like Sweet Bones, The Living Green Festival is the highlight of their year, joining the vegan community and introducing others to their tasty treats.

The Cruelty Free Shop vegan store will be displaying products from their online shop. They sell baking products, vegan cheese, mock meats, health and beauty products, candles, cleaning supplies, and more. Check out their website for more info.

This event is also dog friendly, so bring your pooch and enjoy a human and canine snack at Carson's Café . The café will also feature a wide range of pet food from around Australia, including from here in Canberra. All funds raised by the Café go straight back to the Living Green Festival.

See their Facebook page for updated info on stallholders.

With so many tourists, family and friends in the city for Floriade, The Living Green Festival at Albert Hall will be an enjoyable way to spend a lazy Sunday, enjoying the many foods on offer whilst learning more about living "green".
