Hawthorn Arts Centre has a sparkling live music lineup this month.

First up is Kon Shes , a celebration of International Women's Day with a Melbourne 'super band' to be led by Fem Belling . Jazz vocalist, violinist and improvisationalist Fem will be joined by four of the best of Melbourne's women musicians in this powerful performance, to deliver a potent mix of prose and original music with overtones of jazz and groove.

Fem Belling is an award-winning West End leading lady and has performed in major stage musicals in Australia and internationally. Winner of five FNB Theatre Awards and a Best Show Olivier Award, she's also a regular at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, major venues across Melbourne and previous Boroondara Arts programs.

Accompanying Fem will be Mina Yu on piano, Tamara Murphy on double bass, Cheryl Durongpisitkul on sax and Maria Moles on drums.

Kon Shes takes place at 8.00pm on Friday 11 March. Tickets are $38/$30.

Folk-tronic act Amaru Tribe will take to the stage on Friday 18 March, playing their signature 'Oceanic Cumbia' sounds. Blending traditional music from Latin America, urban flow and contemporary electronic sounds, audiences can expect a unique performance from this band, which has been nominated for the Music Victoria Awards as Best Intercultural Act in 2020 and 2021, and has played to audience acclaim at many major Australian music festivals as well as on their international tours.

Amaru Tribe comprises music producer and singer/songwriter Oscar Jimenez (Colombia/Australia), muralist and singer/songwriter Katherine Gailer (Colombia/Australia) and percussionist Cristian Saavedra (Chile/Australia).

Amaru Tribe will perform at 8pm on Friday 18 March. Tickets are $28/$22.

Gelareh Pour's Garden will feature an ensemble of talented musicians performing unique Iranian-Australian music at the Hawthorn Arts Centre on Friday 25 March. Gelareh Pour and her band will perform a contemporary blend of old and new music for a night of blissfully diverse sounds.

Playing alongside Brian O'Dwyer (drums), Mike Gallichio (electric guitar) and Kelly Dowall (ney and clarinet), Iranian born Gelareh will perform music that draws on her personal experiences across two cultures; Iranian and Australian. Audiences will hear ancient Persian melodic lines with modern sensibility, exploring the duality of multiculturalism and the connection of sound, regardless of place.

Gelareh has composed music for various ABC Radio programs and has appeared in some of the most respected Australian and international music festivals and venues. She was a finalist for Art 2020 Music Awards for Excellence in Experimental Music and nominated for the Music Victoria Awards, Best Intercultural Music Act in 2020 and 2021.

You can see Gelareh Pour's Garden performing at 8pm on Friday 25 March. Tickets are $28/$22.

All concerts will take place at Hawthorn Arts Centre, 360 Burwood Road Hawthorn. For more information and to buy tickets, go to the Boroondara Arts website, or call (03) 9278 4770.
