I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a television show? To become a member of the studio audience it is as easy as sending an email and waiting to be contacted re availability.

Dr Chris Brown warming up the audience
We arrived at 6:15pm for an evening taping of the show and waited outside the studio with other audience members for about 30 minutes. Photo ID was checked before being ushered in to the hallowed space. The studio was much smaller than expected and the 100 audience members were seated quite close to the famous couch.
Whilst the crew finished setting up, Miguel and Chris chatted to us and got us all laughing and in the mood for a fun night. Once taping started we were given cues of when and how to react whilst trying to stay oblivious to the cameras pointing at us. The laughter is genuine as the stars get up to quite a bit of mischief especially during Hot or Not.

The set
Pre recorded segments such as house makeovers and travel are watched on overhead monitors whilst Amanda & Co have their makeup and hair adjusted. Occasionally retaping occurs when lines are forgotten or there is an equipment malfunction. There was a blown light the night we went.

A new friend
When the taping is finished some of the cast members stay back and it is possible to have a quick chat and grab a photo with them. About a month later you might be lucky enough to see yourself on TV, I taped each episode after I went as we were not told the airing night. It was quite funny to see myself participating enthusiastically during the Hot or Not segment. It was a fun night and I have kept my name on the mailing list in the hope of another call up.
