Live Aid: The Songs and Stories from Love Central Coast website
In July 1985, 1.9 billion people, nearly 40% of the population of the world came together for a series of concerts known as Live Aid, that were broadcast from London, Philadelphia, and Sydney.
Laycock Street Theatre is celebrating Live Aid’s 39th anniversary with the Australian premiere of a new stage show called
Live Aid: The Songs and Stories that brings the magic of Live Aid alive in a two-hour stage show.
The show will star original performer from the 1980s Paul Field from the Cockroaches at Laycock Street Theatre on the 21st of July as it resurrects the global event with big-screen backdrops, exclusive videos and live performances of some of the biggest hits of Live Aid.
Live Aid: The Songs and Stories will include over 20 of the biggest hits from the following artists:
Status Quo
Queen
Elton John
Dire Straits
Phil Collins
Spandau Ballet
Nik Kershaw
Simple Minds
Madonna
The Cars
The Pretenders
And many more, as well as classic songs from the Oz for Africa concert where Mondo Rock, The Angels, INXS and others played their music for the world stage. This is all going to be hosted by Maurice Parker, an international entertainment reporter from Simon Townsend’s Wonder World and the 7 Network, as well as on-screen appearances from some of the people who performed on the Live Aid stages. The event will also recount secrets from behind the scenes, as well as the spontaneous moments that made Live Aid what it was in 1985, and put it into the history books.
So come and join in at the Laycock Street Theatre on the 21st of July from 2pm to travel back in time to the 1980s and the Live Aid concerts that touched every corner of the globe. Get your
