Places that are hard to find are always worth it in the end, especially if you can sense that they actually know what good coffee is.
Little Wish is a coffee hideout located at the back of an arcade at the 530 end of Little Collins street. In terms of furniture and their layout, we have the failsafe Melbourne formula: benches, small tables, wood, cakes on display and water in bottles.
Espresso. Single Origin. Guatamala Santa Saula - Ora Est.
I can taste orange zest in this espresso. It's not a thick espresso that lacquers your tongue and mouth either, it has more of a thin body with an oily mouth feel. There is something about this that makes me think of brandy, not in the way brandy stings your throat (if you're not used to it) but more so in the way that the after taste has prune or preserved fruit-like tones.
A small modestly nested cafe in an arcade at the corporate end of Little Collins street - that's what we have here. They get busy, they have regulars, they are worth checking out. Nothing to fault them on. I have a feeling they are consistent too.
How to get here? There is an arcade, sort of like a food court arcade at 530 Little Collins street.. There is a Hudsons cafe within the arcade, pass that, down the steps, keep going, there will be all these other shops and eateries. If you can see the Bento Box place, keep going and turn right. The rest is up to you if you can't find it - you are not Princess Leia and I am not Obi Wan, I am not your only hope.
They may be a little wish, but they certainly deliver big.
