Hitting the Melville Theatre stage this August, the show follows an awkward florist shop worker named Seymour who happens upon a strange plant that he names after his crush, Audrey.
A sadistic dentist, doo-wop and early Motown-inspired music written by theatre legend Alan Menken, and incredible feats of on-stage puppetry combine to create a fresh interpretation of this larger-than-life musical.

This production in particular promises plenty of surprises, making this a
Little Shop of Horrors unlike any you’ve seen before.
The show originally premiered off-off-Broadway in 1982, before being made into a film starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin in 1986, and transferring to Broadway’s Orpheum Theatre in 2003.
Award-winning director and Dianella resident Craig Griffen is no stranger to the show, having been a fan of it for quite some time.
Craig said this all-new production features some unusual and unique approaches to the puppetry required to tell this story.
"Our Audrey II is a completely original design that will be puppeteered and performed by on-stage actors," he said.
“Everything that fans of Little Shop of Horrors love is there, but there’s also a whole heap of brand-new surprises in store.”
The show’s female protagonist, Audrey, is played by South Lake resident Grace Johnson, who has worked with Craig Griffen on numerous productions previously.
“Craig always takes musicals in a different direction than we have ever seen them before,” Grace said.
“Audiences can expect to see the show that they know and love but through a slightly different lens.”
Como resident Lochlan Curtis, playing awkward florist shop worker Seymour, said he’s relishing the opportunity to take on an iconic musical theatre role.
“Seymour is a challenging role and a dream for many actors, so I am looking forward to bringing my version of the character to life,” he said.
Little Shop of Horrors plays from Friday 25 August to Saturday 16 September. Friday and Saturday shows 7:30pm, with Sunday shows at 5pm. Tickets from $25. Book at
