Grisly and Gruesome Musical Comedy
The Little Shop of Horrors musical is not a syrupy sweet, skipping in the sunshine musical. This cult musical comedy captured fans with its gruesome story of a flesh-eating plant that threatens to wreak havoc.
The Little Shop of Horrors ticks a multitude of theatrical boxes. It has dark humour, unique puppetry and a rocking upbeat, doo-wop Motown score.

Originally a low-budget 1960's movie, the Little Shop of Horrors film was turned into a rock musical in 1982. The show ran successfully on Broadway and in the London's West End and then went on to be the longest-running off-Broadway show of all time. More 'recently' there was a remake of the film in 1986 and now award-winning creative duo director Dean Bryant and choreographer Andrew Hallsworth have brought Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's story and score to life.

The producers of the musical said "We are thrilled to reassemble our dynamic creative team from Sweet Charity for a brand new collaborative theatrical adventure. Audiences are going to be bowled over by the unique vision, our sensational cast, and our very own, never-before-seen 'Audrey II.' We're very excited about taking this new production all around Australia."
Little Shop of Horrors is playing at His Majesty's Theatre from 4-12th August.

The macabre yet comical story follows the timid, hapless floral assistant Seymour Krelborn (Brent Hill) who fortuitously stumbles upon a unique new plant which he sees as his opportunity for recognition and fortune. Smitten by his attractive co-worker Audrey (multi-award winning Esther Hannaford) Seymour names the plant "Audrey ll".
Audrey ll (created by master puppet-makers Erth) grows into an insidious blood-thirsty carnivore. This foul-mouthed, smooth talking, R&B singing carnivore has a ferocious appetite requiring Seymour to source juicier and less justifiable meals.
The talented Australian cast also includes Tyler Coppin as Mr Mushnik, the opportunistic flower shop owner and Scott Johnson as Audrey's sadistic dentist boyfriend.
