The media was alight when it heard about four year old Aelita Andre , the preschool painter who gained her own New York art exhibit and sold a painting for over $20,000. Her abstract works were compared to the likes of Picasso, Dali and Jackson Pollock, and while many children won't reach her skill or fame, Little Picassos will help them learn a thing or two.

Little Picassos operate from two different studios in Adelaide, one in Glenelg and one in Hyde Park. There is no pressure on your kids to become the next prodigy of the art world, Picassos is really just for fun, but your kids will pick up some art skills that can help build a solid art foundation.

Children can start as young as 2 1/2 years-old. This early introduction opens up a world of visual experimentation for young children. While they play with colours, paints and other materials they will learn more about the visual arts. Older children build a much stronger framework. The Little Picassos classes show children different techniques used in visual art, as well as exploring different concepts seen throughout art history. Children gain an educational background whilst they have fun in a supportive environment.

Little Picassos offer a range of options for parents wanting to enrol their children. Term classes operate during the school term, giving children a worthwhile activity for their weekends or after school. Extensive school holiday programs provide all children with an artistic opportunity, they can either choose to focus on perfecting their fine art skill, or expressing themselves through more experimental classes.

Birthday parties can even be arranged. Find a theme that your budding artist and their friends will enjoy, and Little Picassos will help plan a fun filled party for your child. They don't just offer painting. Your child will still get food, drink, and of course a birthday cake, but they'll also enjoy a two-hour art session. Each child gets to leave the party with their own artwork, personally created. Little Picassos are flexible and will allow you to cater for your own party, but if you prefer they are happy to organise all of your food and drink.

For parents and children looking for something special, Little Picassos also offer their "canvas creations". This is an opportunity for your child to have one-on-one directed lessons, with the aim of producing a special and unique canvas for you or your child. This piece of art work is made by your child, and tailor made for whatever purpose you have planned. You will not only own a unique piece of artwork for your home, but your child will have accomplished his or her own masterpiece.

If you want to get your kids involved then head to the Little Picassos website . Information can be found on all of their different programs, and you can easily contact them with any queries or enrollments. You may not want your child to become the next artistic prodigy, but the benefits of encouraging self expression through art are worth far more to your child than $20,000.
