Little Miss Miami
From the crew that brought you Little Miss Mexico comes Little Miss Miami, its enclosed winter counterpart. Little Miss Mexico opened during the fringe this year to crowds of eager patrons and was always full to the brim. Now the highly anticipated Little Miss Miami has finally opened just around the corner and does not disappoint. When walking into Little Miss Miami you are greeted by a wall of old television sets - some working, some not - followed by a walkway of hanging ferns, both of which help to transport you away from Frome St and into the world that the 'Little Miss…' crew are so great at making.
The décor is a mix of Moroccan beach princess and metropolitan underground. The hanging lights give a pink hue to the whole place that suits the mood of the bar and the many booths and lounges allow for an intimate experience.
Compared to Little Miss Mexico's taco and burrito outdoor grill, Little Miss Miami is equipped with a fully functioning and splendid kitchen. The menu includes a range of bar food that would be the envy of any trendy inner city bar from Miami to Melbourne. Mini Beef Chilli Dogs accompany Kingfish Ceviche and Black Bean Empanadas on the menu while the specials board is where they really get creative with Crumbed Clare Valley Veal with Corn & Avocado Salsa, Jamón and fresh Lime.
We had the Chilli Dogs, Cheesy Poofs with Peppers, Chilli and Sweet Mustard Mayo and the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings as well as the Mini Key Lime Pies with Caramel Pecans. Although quite spicy, the Chilli Dogs and Cheesy Poofs were perfect bar food; easy to eat and irresponsibly cheesy. The Jamaican Chicken Wings were succulent and marinated to perfection while the Key Lime Pies were beautifully presented and bursting with flavour.
While the food is great, Little Miss Miami is first and foremost a bar and has an extensive wines list along with a range of cocktails designed to make you feel as if you are relaxing on Miami Beach, despite being in the middle of an Adelaide winter. We had the Miami Nice and the Apple Daiquiri, along with a Rosé.
Little Miss Miami brings a bit of summer warmth and spirit to Adelaide's otherwise dreary winter and is the perfect place to go for an after work drink or weekend outing. They are open Tuesday-Sunday from 4pm and have just started opening for lunch on Fridays.
