Anketell Street which runs along Tuggeranong Hyperdome has slowly developed over the years into a lovely eating precinct. You can stroll down it and find a wide range of choices and variety of eateries. One of these is Little Istanbul Restaurant and Bar. This restaurant has the capacity for indoor or outside dining and features inside solid sandstone features, hardwood timber floors and an amazing indoor water feature which can create provide private dining, which is separate from the main restaurant.
On my last visit I ordered one of their excellent pides. I chose for $22.50 the Karadesli a semi open style of the traditional pide marinated prawns, mushroom, tomato, parsley, garlic & cheese, and as always, it was excellent.
I really like the take away banquet options, which have included kebabs, zucchini balls, rice, salad, pide and dips. They make their own freshly baked pide and the dips are divine to enjoy with it and include; hummus, beetroot, carrot and eggplant dips on the premises. Also on offer is a good variety of baklava for dessert.
I have ordered on a number of times the 'Honey I'm Home' take away banquet for $18 a person (minimum of 2 people) which comprises of shish kebab (lamb skewers), choice of 1 dip (from a selection off 5), rice, choice of 1 pide (prawn extra), shish tavuk (chicken skewers) and I have found for $36 that there is enough food for four of us.
There is a bar with newspapers to read while enjoying the good weather.
The service is friendly and it is lovely to be able to sit outside when it is a nice day. One (large) local family own and run this restaurant, therefore the service is usually consistent and food is good authentic Turkish food. However, it is a bring your own alcohol.
