Wynnum's favourite book store, Little Gnome, has ensured local readers are included in the celebrations with a day of fun and freebies planned. The little shop will be bulging with books for the tiniest of readers, grown up kids and the young at heart.
Classic favourites like Peter Rabbit and The Very Hungry Caterpillar will sit on the shelves alongside the Taya Bayliss series and the magical Legends of Marithia fantasy series, ensuring no reading level is overlooked.
For the older audience, Erica Gore, will be in store at 11.30 to sign her popular mystery books from the Taya Bayliss series. These are great for the 8-12 year-old readers and Erica will also be showing off her brand new book, Gummshoes, so make sure you get in quick as it is proving very popular.
At 12.15pm Koola Kaye will be there to introduce KJ the white cockatiel on his latest adventure in KJ Goes Invisible:. This is an interactive children's picture book that incorporates colour charts, counting and spotting KJ within the story. You may even spot KJ in the shop so keep your eyes open.
There will also be free show bags (while they last) with every book purchased, so get in early and while the young ones are being entertained, you can settle down with a Montville coffee or try one of Little Gnomes fancy flavoured milkshakes … you won't regret it.
You never know, Little Gnome might be there to greet you when you arrive so be on the lookout. For more details about Little Gnome, Children's Book Week and the fantastic range of books on offer, check out their Facebook page.
