Don't you love when you discover a place you have not been before? How about finding it in a place where you would not have thought to look? Or even, on a street, you have been walking for years and all of a sudden there is something new to see?

If you walk along Grey Street in Southbank, closer to the Vulture Street end, there is a new development going on called Southpoint. The first section is an office building. The second section looks to be an apartment building, with interesting architecture and flow, and up for sale now. It is not yet complete but will change this end of Grey Street, making itself home to a number of people.

What is advantageous to us is the way they have preserved the Queenslander that lives between the 2 towers. It has been raised above street level and houses something really surprising.

The surviving 1889 Queenslander has been several different things over the years including the South Bank Police Station.

Now it is called the Little Big House. A new venue, it is a party place, bar, restaurant and a great place to hang out. It is easily accessible from Gardens Point by way of the Goodwill Bride. Then from the street make your way upstairs, you will see the South Bank train station which will be beneficial later on to take you home but for now, carry on.

The old girl has been preserved and shines with feeling and character. When you sit at a table you feel the vibes that they have tried to create here.

You feel like you are on vacation, relaxing and sipping a cocktail of your choice or munching on some goodies, sitting somewhere in northern Queensland, not on Grey Street in South Brisbane. All the original features have been preserved from the wrought iron railings that separate one patio from another to the beautifully darkened stair balustrades that are polished to perfection.

There are several different seating areas spread throughout, small rooms for cosy conversation, to the larger deck area where dancing can be the order of the day when the Dj's come out to play.

The second floor is home to the Major Mitchell bar where you could have a small gathering of friends. The pool table downstairs fits well in its allocated space, sports an amazing palm tree and is accompanied by a TV to watch those events you have been waiting for.

You can choose to sit along the upper railings of the second floor and watch life on Grey Street or sit under cover of umbrellas and be protected from the sun.

They take bookings from Saturday to Thursday. You can book for parties or Karaoke and the Sunday Sessions complete with DJs will keep you hopping.

Their food is well priced. And along with being tasty, they have added some new things on the menu you may want to check out. The Fried Chicken Waffle side dish is heaven in your mouth and the Little chook dinner is just right and satisfying.

Why not surprise your friends and head to Grey Street and the Little Big House?
