Most people over voting age would be familiar with the name, Jacqui Lambie. Do you agree?

Lambie served as a Senator for Tasmania from 2014 to 2017. First elected as a member of the Palmer United Party, she received national prominence for her intense grassroots campaign and subsequently her display of aggressive and vociferous parliamentary behaviour, championing issues concerning foreign affairs, veterans' affairs, youth unemployment and the criticism of Islam. After persistent internal divisions, Lambie resigned from the PUP and sat as an independent. She was re-elected to the Senate in the Australian federal election, 2016. On 14 November 2017, Lambie announced her resignation from the Senate, after revealing she held dual British-Australian citizenship, prohibited under the Australian Constitution.

Ms Lambie will be launching her autobiography, Rebel With A Cause, at a literary lunch at the Grand View Hotel in Cleveland, on Thursday, March the 1st.

According to the blurb, "Her autobiography is not a political book. In fact, politics barely gets a mention until the final chapters. It's the story of her life as an ordinary working class girl from Tasmania, and her journey through the army, her enforced medical retirement after 10 years following a horrendous back injury, her struggles to raise two kids as a single mother. The subject matter is real and often raw, but Jacqui handles it with humour, honesty and dignity. It's safe to say that there's never, ever, been a politician's memoir like this in Australia."

The book launch includes a 2 course meal and commences at 12pm noon, finishing at 2pm. The cost for GV Members is $40 and Non Members $45. Bookings are a must and can be made online here or by contacting 07 3884 3000.

The Grand View Hotel is located at 49 North St, and is past the Cleveland CBD and on the road heading to Cleveland Point. It is only a short journey by taxi from the Cleveland Railway Station, and the athletes amongst us can walk it in twenty minutes.

I'm looking forward to meeting Jacqui. What about you?
