Lovely rainforest walk in Hornsby
If you love to spend time surrounded by nature, especially on weekends but don't have time to drive so far, I would like to recommend Lisgar Gardens, a hidden gem of Hornsby, tucked right away in Lisgar Lane about 10 to 15 minutes walk from Hornsby Train Station.
From the outside, you will have no idea what you are going to experience here. Once you make your way down, you start to see different varieties of camellias and many other flora plants. Around the gardens, you can also see many native and exotic plants.
You can easily navigate your way round the gardens and come across a small shade house with fish pond known as the "The Glade" for you to admire Koi carp fish.
If you walk further down, you will find the rain forest setting with small stream and waterfalls. Yes, the forest right here in the heart of Hornsby for you to get fresh ozone and enjoy a simple walking trail. Lisgar Gardens is so secluded that you can hide away for the bustling daily life for a while.
There are a couple of picnic tables with forest backdrop, so if you like you can prepare a mini picnic basket to have here but ensure to clean up after yourself as there are only few gardeners and volunteers who maintain this whole place.
Lisgar Gardens does host few events throughout the year. The place can also be hired for wedding, naming ceremonies and formal film/photography shooting sets. You can find information from here on Hornsby Shire website.
