The track is 4.5 kms and is circular, following the circumference of Lake Terang.

The track features twelve bluestone markers telling the stories of Terang Lake and the history of the township. Being circular, there are several entry points. I suggest you begin in the main street, above the bowling and croquet clubs. There is a toilet block there with a large map on the exterior wall. There is also a pocket with maps of the walk to assist your navigation.

Walking clockwise would be the better option as the steepest part would be downhill.

1. The Terang Public Park was established in 1970 on and around the now dry bed of Lake Terang. In 1996, the Lions walking track was laid and an extensive tree planting project was completed by 2000.

2. Croquet Club.

3. Cricket Club. On our walk on a Saturday afternoon, a cricket match was in progress and the sight of cars parked around the ground is typical of country cricket matches.

4. Bluestone Steps.

5. Boniyarook Gopher Track. Completed in 2009, this concrete path links the May Noonan Hostel for the aged with the Terang central business district.

6. Emu Creek Pony Club.

7. The original St. Thomas Catholic Church.

8. Lake Terang. This was the traditional land of the Kuurn Kopan Noot people, who fished the lake and lived on the abundant birdlike and animals attracted to the lakeshore. The word Terang is an aboriginal word said to mean 'twig with leaves'.

This section is rather steep and gives good views across the 'lake.' It is through grasslands and has a green walking track.

9. Terang Cemetery and Police Paddock. The cemetery and police paddock are not passed but in this area is a direction finder mounted upon a concrete column. Nearby is a tin shelter with a bench seats giving a rest and nice views.

10. The Chinaman's Hut. This marker is along a narrow fenced path between the lake area and private property.

11. Terang Golf Club.

12. Terang Bowling Club.

Only two floral species was seen with one of them being a scotch thistle.

Despite the numerous trees and shrubs, the only birds seen were several magpies, a single mudlark and a colourful blue wren.

The dry lake area is Crown land managed by the Terang Public Park trustees and is used for sport and public recreation activities. Land not used for these purposes is leased to a local dairy farmer.

Like many small towns, Terang has a lot to offer and the Lions Walk Track is only one of them.
