History
The Fibromyalgia Support Network of Western Australia provides information and support to people suffering with Fibromyalgia. They are a not-for-profit organisation with over 2,000 registered members.

The Support Network of Western Australia was formed in Perth by Dr Kaye Brand, a Physiotherapist. Kaye was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in the mid 90's, and could find no support and little understanding of the challenges facing those with this illness. She studied overseas, including a scholarship to the USA on Advocacy Training for Fibromyalgia sufferers.

In 2007 Kaye founded the Fibromyalgia Support Network WA along with Sian Doughty, the earliest member. The Network became incorporated in 2011 and was granted a Charitable Collectors License.

The Disease
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the muscles, tendons and ligaments, but not the joints. It is a condition that challenges both patients and healthcare professionals. It's symptoms are wide ranging and wide spread, and include bad pain and other sensitivities, sleep disturbance, and chronic fatigue.

There is no cure for Fibromyalgia, but there are treatments that help reduce symptoms.
