Have you heard the latest? Have you seen the news? Linen and Lace in Cleveland have moved to bigger premises. Still in Bloomfield Street; however now at Shop 6 Metro Arcade, proprietor Marolyn McKitrick can now show her wide range of beautiful wares to the best advantage.
Marolyn a clothes designer with 35 years' experience has designed clothes for politicians and society wives along with many people just like you and me. Her designs are a "one-off" with a vintage romantic aspect and Marolyn is also happy to commission an outfit just for you to suit your colourings and specific night or day occasion. Marolyn began her love of sewing and creation at age 10 and by age 13 she was collecting doyleys and exquisite braid and/or pieces of material to enhance her designs. Material for outfits is sourced from all over Australia and the World to obtain the best quality of fabric. Often Marolyn will create a hairpiece to suit the outfit and this compliments the garment at a wedding or race day.
If you have an item of clothing that doesn't fit anymore, don't worry, Marolyn can alter it by adding lace or adding pieces in and then enhancing it with jewellery to make the item look better than before. Marolyn is currently restoring ballerina tutus which are around 12 years old, so no job is too challenging. If you don't live locally, items can be purchased through mail order and party plan nights can be arranged on request.
Other brands of clothing stocked at Linen and Lace are pure silk lingerie from Ginia Australia, pure cotton night dresses and brunch coats, children's and baby's wear some created exquisitely by Marolyn. There really is nowhere else to go to purchase special apparel for your partner as she will feel utterly feminine in clothes from Linen and Lace.
Linen and Lace also have an extensive gift range of soaps, hand cream, jewellery, crockery, towels, cushions, rugs, including merchandise from well-known brands such as Art Nouveau Arts and Crafts, Canterbury Rose, Linen Spray from England, Peter Rabbit, Four Little Ducks, etc.
Linen and Lace are open from 9.00am to 4.00pm Mon-Fri and 10.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday. The business is open one Sunday a month in conjunction with the Cleveland Markets which are held weekly. Recently on a Friday evening, Linen and Lace hosted a mini fashion parade with wine and cheese in the Metro Arcade, Cleveland and is hoping this can become a regular event.
If you admire the creations Marolyn makes, you may like to enrol in one of her Apron Classes so you too can create a one-off item with a romantic vintage theme.
Allow yourself plenty of time to wander around the shop when you visit, as I found meandering around once was just not enough to see all the stock showcased.
