While it's so frosty outside, it's an ideal time to brighten up the inside with a mini-makeover. But there's no need to call in the interior decorator or spend big, since Linen House has opened a new factory outlet in Moorabbin and it's bursting with bargains. You'll find your favourite Linen House homewares, bed linen and manchester at heavily discounted prices, including brands Aura, Deco, Designers Guild, Marie Claire, Marie Claire Mini and Hiccups for kids.

If you're looking to freshen up a living room, it's as easy as adding a new throw, some scatter cushions, a rug and voilà! You can also pick up a new table runner and accessories for the adjoining dining room or kitchen for a very fetching price.

According to Linen House Head of Design, Sue Morris, a good room starts with a good floor. "If you have polished wood floors, you might choose some nice rugs and then a wall colour and soft furnishings to tie in with the theme you have created with your new rug... If you already have a neutral room, decide on a colour palette and choose a range of cushions in different textures for interest. Indoor plants are wonderful – it's amazing how living green adds to a space and there are many beautiful pots available now." Or she says to simply garner inspiration from a feature artwork you love to create your colour scheme.

Is it time for your kid's bedroom to catch up with their tween or teen age? Sue Morris says the single simplest and most inexpensive thing you can do to transform a bedroom is change the bed cover. You can also pick up some tab top curtains and a few coordinated bed cushions to match your new quilt cover, bringing instant splashes of colour without the mess, fumes or time it takes to paint.

Could your bathrooms do with a burst of freshness? It's easy and inexpensive to turn over worn out towels, bathmats and face washers with an extensive range of recently discontinued and reduced bathroom stock in-store too.

Sue Morris says to look at terry bath mats, which "… are typically a heavier weight… so should last at least as long as your other towels." Or tufted cotton bath mats, which "… are lovely and soft underfoot, and also washable, so they also last a long time." She also recommends hanging up or tumble drying bath mats after use, which helps to keep them fresh and last longer.

And as a guiding principle when it comes to styling your home, "... the new trend is, there is no trend! … Make your house reflect your own life and creativity."
