There is nothing I like more than a bowl of pasta, so, when the opportunity came up for me to check out Linea Café by Kafe Neo at Ramsgate, I jumped at the chance.

Our booking was for 7pm on Friday night and we were greeted by Liz and her staff, which consisted of Jason (Chef), Michael & Anthony (Barista and Chef assistants) and Tania (waitress).

One thing that my dining guest, Leanne, noticed was that there were only a few tables inside and about six outside. This was because they had only started the Pasta Nights on Thursday 30th of March.

What I did notice was that there were already a number of diners tucking into what was some great looking and smelling bruschetta starters and pasta dinners. Once seated, Leanne and I eagerly awaited what they would cook up.

Linea Café is a small café on the corner of 226 Rocky Point and Clarkes Roads, Ramsgate, which is run by Liz and her family. One of the things that intrigued me about coming here was that they source all their ingredients from Flemington Markets and a farm in Camden, ensuring the freshest and finest produce from farm to plate.

Leanne decided to have an entrée sized Boscaiola Ravioli Pasta with mushrooms, bacon and garlic which was finished in a cream sauce and topped off with eatable flowers and a couple of piece of garlic bread. After hearing about the Chefs Special of Grilled Ling with Spinach and Leek, I couldn't resist trying it as I love my fish.

To say that I was extremely glad that I had the Grilled Ling is an understatement. It was cooked to perfection, so much so that there was nothing left on my plate. As for Leanne's dish, it too was delicious. This I know because I finished off what Leanne didn't.

The ingredients of the Italian Salad were the freshest that I have had and the balsamic dressing didn't overpower it. There was only one small thing - I would have liked a few more olives. We did also order a couple of pieces of garlic bread each. Maybe we should have only had one serving, due to getting a couple of pieces with the Boscaiola pasta.

Even though we were now contented, we couldn't resist trying the Crème Brulee with Burnt Marshmallows and homemade Pistachio Ice-cream. The single serving that we had was plenty for the two of us. To top it off, I also had a Campos cappuccino. If you refer to the attached photo of the Pasta Night menu, you will find that you also have a choice of having the Linguine or Penne pasta.

Starters range from $6 to $10, while the pasta dishes range from $14 to $20. There is only one dessert at the moment and that is $12. So, depending on what you have, for a couple it would cost you around $70. This would include a couple of cappuccinos. It would be slightly dearer if you had the Chef's Special like I did.

I would say that you get great food and value for your money.

Now, this is not where my experience of the delightful, tasty, healthy and freshest ingredients ended.

The following Sunday had me back at Linea Café to take a few more pictures and I couldn't resist trying the smoked salmon (that is smoked on-site) and poached eggs with Brasserie Sourdough bread.

The poached eggs were cooked how I like them, firm on the outside and runny on the inside. Over the years, I have smoked a lot of fish and the salmon was lightly smoked and was not too overpowering.

To say that I was pleased that I went back to get a few more photos is an understatement. The food was delicious.

While I was there I asked a few of the other customers whether they had been before and what they thought of the food. One of the ladies was a local, who had been previously and had brought along her friend for breakfast. They had thoroughly enjoyed what they had and would be back again.

Even though Linea Café is on a main road, both of the times that I have been there the passing traffic didn't bother me. What I did notice while I was there on both Friday night and Sunday morning was that there were quite a large number of customers coming in a getting take away pasta and coffees on the Friday and bacon and egg rolls and coffees to go were rolling out the door on Sunday morning.

As for parking, you wouldn't have any worries here day or night, but I would check to see if there is a clearway during the daytime, especially if you are just calling in to get some takeaway.

One thing that I did learn while I was there, was that there is this company called Deliveroo. It has been operating since 2013.

If you are pushed for time or you want to dine at home you can get any of the pasta dishes delivered hot to your doorstep, all you need to do is login into Deliveroo, search for Linea Café at Ramsgate and order away. I t would be great on those cold and rainy nights. The only small hitch is that you have to be within a 5klm range as the crow flies.

Their Pasta Nights are Thursday - Saturday, 5pm-8pm. Where you can dine in or takeaway.

Bookings are Essential (02) 9529 9149

They are also open every day during the week.

Monday the Friday from 6.30am to 3pm and 7am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

If you are looking for a place where you can have a delightful and tasty pasta dish at night or call in for breakfast, brunch or lunch 7 days a week, pay a visit to Linea Cafe.

You will always be greeted with a smile. I know that I will be back again. Hope to see you there.
