Opened in 2001, the Line of Lode Miner's Memorial can be found on the summit of a 30-metre-high mullock overlooking the city. It serves as a touching monument to all the lives that have been claimed by Broken Hill's mining industry. Within its rust-red steel walls are multiple glass panels etched with the names of more than 800 perished miners. As the saying goes, "the most important thing to come out of a mine is a miner".

You are welcome to walk through the monument and reflect on this human tragedy. Sobering as it is, the views from the memorial are rather eye-catching too. The memorial itself has an impressive architecture which can be seen from the city below. Do check it out next time you're in the vicinity.
