There is no question of the staying power of the Linden Postcard Show, as it is now in its 30th year. The appeal of the competition perhaps lies in the fact that it is open entry, and open media. 2D and 3D works are acceptable. The only requirement is each work measures 8 x 10 inches (20.32 x 25.4cm) exactly, including any framing. Artists can submit up to three works, and there is no set theme.

The advent of COVID-19 has forced some changes on the format of this year's competition. Artists will need to post their entries to the gallery (no personal deliveries), and the number of entries will be capped at 1000. This year's opening, to be held on Friday 4th December, will be virtual-only.

The judges for this year's show, who will award a series of prizes to selected artists on opening night, are Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) Director, Charlotte Day and Gippsland Art Gallery Director, Simon Gregg.

The prizes are always sufficient to ensure a strong and competitive field. Amongst this year's awards is an Artist Encouragement Award, with a cash prize of $2000. You can view the full list of prizes here.

As part of the birthday celebrations, this year's show will include a selection of artworks from Linden Postcard Show alumni, including John Campbell, Abdul Abdullah and Penny Byrne.
