On Tuesday the 15th of December 2020,
National Parks and Wildlife Service will be hosting a Family Fun Day at Stamford Hill in Lincoln National Park. There will be lots to do for the whole family including stand-up paddleboarding, ranger-guided walk, self-guided nature play and self-guided exploration.
Stand-up paddle boarding is easier than it looks, and this is your opportunity to have a go at it under the guidance of qualified instructors from Xtreme Kites and Paddle. You will learn how to manoeuvre and paddle amongst the coastline's beautiful scenery and marine life. No experience is necessary.
If you prefer to stay on land, then the
ranger-guided walk may be for you instead. Rangers are ready to guide you to Stamford Hill lookout where a beautiful panoramic view of Boston Bay, Australia's largest natural harbour, awaits. This walk up Stamford Hill does require a moderate level of fitness.
Whilst both these activities are free, you will still need to book beforehand via their respective
Eventbrite websites. The nature play and exploration activities are self-guided, and hence bookings are not required. However, vehicle entry fees do apply and can easily be purchased
online . Friends of Southern Eyre Peninsula Parks will also be there with a BBQ for when you're wanting something to eat. Funds raised from the BBQ will go towards conservation programs.
If you're unable to make it for this Family Fun Day, don't be disheartened as there will be another event for the kids on the following Sunday at the park's September Beach, where they can be
beach detectives and explore the shoreline and rocks with local rangers.
