Teeing off with T-Rex
"Noooooo" cries my teenage companion as he watches his red ball loop around the lip of the hole, defying gravity. "So close," he laments. Meanwhile, in the distance, a woolly mammoth trumpets a warning, T-Rex is on the move... No, I haven't gone bonkers, this is the reality at Lilliputt Mini Golf course at Robina Town Centre, with it's Ice Age theme.
18 holes of golf have never been so much fun, the two of us braving cave men, sabre-toothed tigers and even a woolly rhino over the different parts of the course. One part even has black lights, making your ball glow, though I found it a bit hard on the eyes.
We venture through the vegetation, never knowing what was coming next, all the while being challenged by a mini-golf course, with the holes getting harder as we progressed through the fully air-conditioned course. It has all the hazards one expects, strategically placed mounds, pipes, and tyre loops, with the added bonus of a triceratops watching you tee off.
A lot of fun for all ages, groups of up to four people can play at a time, at a reasonable cost. Adults are $15, with kids starting at $7, however, if you come on a Tuesday, adults tickets are an enticing $9. As the venue is licenced there's also have a drink and play package, where you can have the full golf experience, beer in hand.
Open from 10am to 9pm, Liliputt Mini Gold is located in Robina Town Centre, so there's ample parking and plenty of public transport options. It's easy to find, on the Lower Level Ground 2, just past the lakeside restaurants. A treat for the young and young at heart, Ice Age mini golf is a lot of fun for everyone.
