Waterfront picnic spot overlooking the Royal National Park
A waterfront picnic spot that overlooks the Royal National Park, Lilli Pilli Point Reserve is one of Sydney's hidden gems.

Though only a small reserve, this park, found on the shores of the Port Hacking River, is a lovely spot for a relaxing picnic.

Tucked away at the end of Lilli Pilli Point Road, this narrow strip of land features plenty of grassy spots where you can spread out a rug. The area was once home to dense bushland, but this has been cleared to allow much easier access to the reserve.

With some peaceful views out over the water, it's a quiet and picturesque escape from the city. It's no surprise then that this is actually quite a popular spot for weddings with the sun beaming down, it certainly makes for some great photos.

With the reserve sitting a few metres above water level, small cliffs quickly drop down to the water's edge. There's access via stairs to the water, with the waters around the reserve also home to a number of pretty good fishing spots.

If you're looking for a peaceful waterfront park to the south of Sydney, this charming little spot is definitely worth checking out.
