Most of us will reach the pinnacle of our lives. It will be the stage where we can proudly bask under the glory of our achievements, immensely enjoying the company of our children and our grandchildren, of whom we have successfully nurtured for years and without guilt, equally delight in the peace and tranquillity it brings.
Jubilate on being financially adept, showcased by the grandness of our surroundings, attained from years of hard work. Travelling, dancing, and a myriad of planned social events have come in to fruition. Indeed, we have harvested the fruits of our labour, proud by the fact that we have reached the grand age of maturity; we had become a Senior Citizen.
Nevertheless, in all the glory of an opulent retirement can bring; there are times when we feel incomplete and at a loss. The accustomed long working hours, the adulation from our peers, the recognition of our achievements are now just a distant memory. As my loving partner said, we can no longer "nimble it"
The materialistically driven society has pushed us Senior Citizen into the sideline, unrecognised and unworthy of a celebration. That's what most of us would think. But lo and behold, it is not the case.
There are organisations and groups that acknowledge with a salute that Senior Citizens are one of the pillars of the society, worth celebrating and highlighting their significance in our lives.
With the collaboration of Scalabrini, a not-for-profit residential aged care provider and the iconic Club Marconi located at Bossley Park, an event has been created. Aptly named Like a Fine Wine - Seniors' Week Celebrations "
