The magical festive season is almost upon us! And with all the fabulous Christmas celebrations that we have to look forward to, we also have the enchanting Lights on the Lake Community Festival , once again taking place on the shores of Lake Currimundi.

This legendary FREE family event has fun and entertainment scheduled to run all afternoon and into the evening. Children will have supervised activities from 4.00pm until 6.00pm, including a FREE drumming circle - how awesome is that! Mums, dads, kids and grandparents too will love the special ambience of sitting around in a circle, beating out their own rhythms.

Besides the drumming circle, kids will have other exciting activities to keep them happily burning energy at Lights on the Lake Community Festival. There will be painting, planting, swimming, singing, dancing, riding bikes, listening to music and paddling boats. Crummunda Park has its own dedicated kids section too … an added bonus! It really is all about the kids!

The Lights on the Lake festivities create an unmatched Christmassy adventure to gather a group of friends and family, set up picnic blankets and hampers on the lawned area and participate in the carnival atmosphere and entertainment on stage. The alternative to the on-stage shows is an awesomely attractive option too - keeping a lookout towards Lake Currimundi where dazzlingly decorated kayaks and canoes participate in the water parade, that commences at dusk.

In previous years there have been more than thirty individually decorated watercraft, delightfully ensuring the Lake Currimundi waterways glitter and twinkle vivaciously, luring Santa ever closer to our shores. The jolly ol' guy, our one-and-only favourite, Santa, arrives by boat from across the lake at about 6.00pm'ish, just before the water parade, to shower the children with lolly delights from his bag of tricks!

Rudolph and his harem are staying at home this year - or so I'm told - as they haven't quite mastered the knack of treading water yet and still much prefer the snow!

Are you keen on decorating your kayak or canoe and entering for this year's Lights on the Lake water procession?
Keen boaties can register in advance by following the link here , downloading the entry form, and either:
  • emailing the completed entry form to [email protected]; or
  • mailing (this is the snail mail route) the completed entry form to Lights on the Lake, 1 Gam Avenue, Currimundi, QLD, 4551

  • And if this all sounds a bit too complicated, boat entrants can register at the launch site in Crummunda Park by 5.30pm on the day of the actual event i.e. Sunday 8 December (just remember to bring the completed entry form with).

    & #129334 ;& #127995 ; Safety rules for water parade entrants

  • Every participant should be a competent swimmer
  • It is strongly recommended that all participants wear a safety flotation device

  • As an added cherry on top to all these magical Christmas festivities, there will be arts and crafts stalls offering very affordable original work from local artists. So, if you're not quite done with your Christmas shopping, or are still on the hunt for that exclusively unique handcrafted gift, this is a great opportunity to support local artists.

The Lights on the Lake Community Festival is a FREE family event with enormous appeal to all ages and anybody and everybody is welcome!

If you live in the area, please consider walking, cycling or even paddling to the event. Crummunda Park is in very close proximity to bus stops on Nicklin Way, giving visitors an alternative method of travelling. The organisers recommend travelling to the event with public transport, if possible.

Put the not-to-be-missed Lights on the Lake date in your calendar and start calling your friends and family for a fabulous get-together to celebrate a magical start to the festive season!
