Lights on the Lake is a new festival in Canberra which will be held each night between 25th - 28th January, 2023, to include Australia Day. Lake Burley Griffin will transform into a light show with a stunning display of light and colour projected onto two enormous water screens. There will also be lasers lights and a musical soundtrack. The light show runs for 12 minutes every half hour at 8:30pm, 9:00pm and 9:30pm and include projected images about what it means to be Australian today. The organisers (the National Capital Authority) have worked very closely with members of the indigenous community, particularly the Ngunnawal community, to reflect their culture in the projections.
There will also be night markets at Commonwealth Place starting nightly from 5pm! Take your picnic blanket for some family fun down by the lake.
