Starting on the 8th of December 2019, the town of Lobethal will once again light up for the festive season. The Lights of Lobethal began over sixty years ago and is now one of the largest community Christmas light displays in Australia and the southern hemisphere.
The official Lights On Ceremony will kick off the festival at 8.30pm on December 8th with special guests Pixie Sparkle and Tinsel flicking the switch. This is then followed by a spectacular fireworks display as well as homes and businesses turning on their lights. All light displays will remain lit until December 29th. You can download a copy of the lights trail map here.
In addition to the lights, there will be a Christmas pageant parade night on December 23rd along the main street at 7.30pm. Roads will be closed from 6pm, so do arrive early for easier parking.
There will also be a traditional re-enactment of the first Christmas each night of the festival. First show at 8.50pm and second show at 9.20pm. This living nativity comes complete with a real baby, shepherds, angels, wise men, and lots and lots of animals.
