Light up your day at this amazing carnival
This annual event takes place on the first Sunday of December, providing the community with the opportunity to celebrate all the wonderous things about Leederville. It's also a chance to get one of your first hits of the festive season, with the event building up to the switching of the Leederville Street Christmas lights at 8pm.

This is a free event for the whole community, where the streets and laneways are literally flooded with over 250 market stalls, music, fashion, art and free entertainment for the kids too. Streets are closed off to traffic, and handed over to the 70,000 pedestrian visitors expected over the course of the long afternoon. Enjoy a line up of enterainment and attractions including the free wine and cheese tasting area, DJ, outdoor and table games at Amani Bar and Kitchen.
What You Can Expect
Live entertainment will be split over eight separate stages with three fun family areas. Whether you like street performers, funky DJ beats, circus acts, roving performers or live bands, this carnival has you covered. With so many acts and entertainers lined up for this 8 hour long festival, you can come at lunch time and stay long into the evening.
Anyone who knows Perth, knows that Leederville has long been a contender on the foodie front, and this carnival sees cafes and restaurants taking to the streets, trading their best and tastiest offerings. If you like decent food, you will be in for a treat.
What will Leedervilles Jus Burgers be serving up this year?
Little kids will enjoy the face painting, bouncy castles, balloons, fairies, fair rides, sideshow alley, roving performers with older kids perhaps opting for the skate/scooter/BMX displays, urban art workshop and basketball shoot-outs.
The overall theme of the event will focus on art, health and sustainability. To check carnival maps and timetables, check back on their website here closer to the event.

Highlights: Great entertainment, fabulous food and enjoy the switching on of the Leederville Christmas lights at 8pm.
Watch out for road closures and plan your route carefully if you are driving. Trains may prove an easier transport option all round.
Bring a water bottle, this way you can use the free water refill stations dotted around the carnival.
Bring cash. There are ATM's available, but to avoid a 20 minute queue, just bring your cash with you (and keep it in a safe place).
If you've got kids with you (or even if you don't), lights get dimmed around 7.30 so bring a torch, glow sticks, or anything else glow in the dark that you have, and help add to the carnival atmosphere.
Come dressed to party - there will even be prizes for the best dressed carnival goer.
