Light the Night is a beautiful evening lantern walk where all Aussies come together, lighting the way to help beat the darkness of blood cancer. It's our time to help raise funds in the continued research of this heartbreaking cancer journey. Register now for either Melbourne or Sydney, and your reserved lantern will be ready for you to pick up on the night at the event.

Melbourne and Sydney are having their Light the Night event simultaneously this year on Friday 5 October 2018 from 5.30-8pm in both cities. Melbourne's meeting place is Federation Square, corner of Swanston and Flinders Streets, Melbourne City, and Sydney, the Barangaroo Reserve, Hickson Rd, Barangaroo. Support and walk amongst those who may be going through their own cancer journey, or simply remembering loved ones lost.

It's an evening the whole family can enjoy, with entertainment and food available. In Sydney, Hayley Jensen, one of the top 4 finalist on Australian Idol will be performing as an Official Gold Lantern Ambassador. Her new album features a heartfelt ballad in memory of her late father who in April 2016 sadly lost his battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a rare type of blood cancer.

Choose your own lantern colour when you register as each one has a special meaning. The Gold lantern is to remember a loved one, the White, is for your own blood cancer journey and the Blue, is to show you care. There's an online fundraising guide and toolkit you can access, with tips, and ideas on how to hold a fundraising event. Most people proudly raise an average of $340 or more. If you'd like a free packet of Light the Night wristbands to help kick-start your fundraising, you can organise that online as well. You can give these to your supporters when they make a donation, to show your appreciation.

The Leukaemia Foundation's Light the Night is not just in Melbourne and Sydney, it's Australia wide, so search for an event near you. Events are also listed on the Facebook page, and you can follow updates and conversations there as well.
