Shine a Lantern of Hope
The Leukaemia Foundation is once again hosting a Light The Night Fundraising event. Throughout September and October, (different dates in every state), there will be Light The Night walks and this year the Leukaemia Foundation aims to raise $2,000,000 towards blood cancer research.
The Light The Night event is a twilight walk for family and friends to gather and shine beautiful lanterns of hope. There are walks organised all over Australia, it's free to sign up and fundraise. If you attend, and walk, in one of the public Light The Night events you will receive one of the lovely lanterns on the night.
As night falls the lanterns shine brightly and the scenic walk begins as people Light The Night and help to raise much needed money to fund vital research to help cure leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
At flagship Light the Night events people will tell their stories, about how they've been touched by blood cancers, diagnosis, treatment and inspirational stories of survival. Many people have lost someone and want to share their stories to offer hope.
There are five ways that you can Light The Night:
1.Sign up to walk at a Light The Night event. There are events organised to take place all across the county.
2.Host your own event. If you cannot attend an organised event, host one of your own. Get some of your neighbours, friends and family together and raise money. It can be a private event or one supported by your local council.
3.Make a donation. If you are not able to attend an event but would still like to help, make a donation.
4.Buy a Lantern. Buy one of the beautiful Light The Night Lanterns for only $20.00 and hang it in your house or garden. There are three different Lanterns available, Gold (to remember a loved one), White (to reflect on your own life with blood cancer), and Blue (to support others).
5.Spread the word. Tell all your family and friends about the Light The Night Walk and 'Like' Light The Night on Facebook.
