This nationwide event is all about helping to raise funds for vital research and of course to bring hope to Australians who are living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.
Light the Night Walk takes place across the country with twilight walks throughout many communities.
The Leukaemia Foundation is trying to raise around $1.25million this year through the Light the Night Event to support the work of Australia's best blood cancer researchers in the hope that one day everyone can be cured.
There are many things you can do to help this event raise the funds.
Once you raise the funds, you walk at the Light the Night events taking place near you.
You can raise funds by hosting an event of your own, where you invite family, friends, and / or the whole town to your own Light the Night - for all information on hosting your own event check the website.
If hosting your event is not your thing, do not worry because you can help by making the Leukaemia Foundation's dream of a cancer free future turn into a reality by donating or find a friend to sponsor.
If you are unable to make the Light the Night, you can buy a lantern to light the night all year round.
The gold lantern is to remember a loved one, a white lantern to reflect on your life with blood cancer and the blue lantern is to show support. You are able to purchase lanterns on the website.
You can also host a lantern drive which encourages people in your town to buy the special hanging lanterns and display them in the front window of their home or business, this helps raise more funds too.
There are more than sixty thousand Australians living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other related blood disorders and every day another thirty one people are diagnosed. Sadly, not everyone will survive.
Please try and do your bit to help this cause and together as a nation, hopefully, we will be able to end this!
