19 different images by 19 renown photographic artists

LIGHT Exhibition at Red Poles Gallery, McMurtrie Road, McLaren Vale SA

Atkins Technicolour is proud to present a collective of 19 Adelaide Photographic Artists with 19 different images. Each artist was briefed only with the word "light", so this is truly an electric rendering of the idea, and yet through several tricks of consistency, the show hangs together beautifully.

Paul Atkins printed and framed the word LIGHT.

Why LIGHT?

Atkins said, "More than any definition of the word, it is the feeling that impresses me. When I think of "light", I feel warmth of a morning sunrise reaching into my bones, filling me with energy. It is that fullness that I enjoy so much. As we all know, without light, there is nothing to see, and certainly no photographs. But "light" here in the exhibition title, is the story of this energy, how it moves us, how it fools us, how it fills us and how it is our everything."

Atkins Technicolour has a strong track record of participating in successful art festivals around Australia. Atkins said, "In 2011, we approached photographers who we print for, to put together a joint exhibition that could travel to one of Australia's most important art festivals, FotoFreo in Fremantle. In 2013 we successfully staged the DARK exhibition for the Ballarat International Foto Biennale (BIFB), drawing a lot of interest with a strong collection. For some photographers it was their first opportunity as exhibiting photographers."

On returning from the BIFB, the exhibition had attracted the attention of the Adelaide Town Hall, where a space was being developed into a dedicated public art venue. DARK was enlarged allowing all artists to submit more work, and rehung for several months, in this remarkable space.

Following the success of the DARK exhibition they decided to join the 2014 Shimmer Photographic Festival in South Australia's Southern Vales. The new exhibition is called LIGHT and is located at the Red Poles Gallery.
