After opening a mere five weeks ago is on the rise to becoming one of Brisbane's most popular places to meet (pun intented). Everything about this place screams fabulous, from the eclectic recycled decor to the homemade gourmet fare served with a smile.
Lift has taken over half of the space once occupied by Sakura Japanese restaurant, and is a welcome addition to the strip of unique and well loved shops at the bottom of Gladstone Road. An inviting and quirky atmosphere has been created in a small space due to the efforts of owner and chef Johnathan. And besides the fresh organic Leavain bread delivered daily, every tasty morsel on offer is homemade by Johnathan - from the gourmet pies and sausage rolls to the jaw-dropping array of cakes and sweet treats (I highly recommend the gluten free chocolate raspberry brownie $4.50).
The cafe's namesake theme carries into the menu which is fashioned after the rising floors of a lift, moving from Level One to Level Six - breakfast options, and continuing with lunch options from Level Seven to Level Eleven. The food is simple but tasty rustic fare, and the Rouge coffee strong and full-bodied. There are different daily counter specials making Lift the perfect place to pop in for coffee and breakfast on the run. Eating in at Lift is also a pleasure as customers are quickly discovering and word is spreading.
Jonathon also makes extraordinary cakes for parties and with his own handmade chocolates coming soon, Lift looks set to reach new heights (another pun intended). A website is in development but for now you can check out
Lift's facebook page for more information and gorgeous pictures, or just drop by in person and ride the Lift.
