Pick up some great books for Dad over the Father's Day Weekend

Macquarie University, Sat 31 Aug–Sun 1 Sep

Give Dad the gift of reading this Father's Day. At Lifeline's Giant Book Fair at Macquarie University on Sat 31 Aug and Sun 1 Sep, you'll find a breathtaking array of books for every type of dad in categories ranging from Crime Fiction, Thrillers and Mysteries, to Biography, Memoir, History, Military, Sport, Comedy, Travels and Adventures, Art, DIY, Cookery, Gardening and Comics.

And if reading isn't Dad's thing, there's a mammoth collection of good-quality DVDs and CDs to choose from instead — everything priced at a fraction of retail cost.

But don't just shop for Dad; pick up a book or ten for yourself among the more than 60,000 books on sale in over 50 general and specialist categories for all tastes and interests. Families will be drawn by an impressive collection of books for young people. For the very young right through to late teens and school students, a vast and diverse selection of reading books, picture books and textbooks awaits.

This year, there's also a huge range of recent editions in the Medical, Alternative Medicine and Health categories, covering a wide range of topics that include cancer, depression, men and women's health, natural remedies, first aid, anatomy and physiology, nursing and medical dictionaries.

A highlight of all Lifeline book fairs is the extraordinary assortment of Special Editions offered on a first-come-first-served basis. A full list of rare and collectable volumes being made available will be posted on the Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury (H2H) website two weeks before the event: www.lifelineh2h.org.au/book-fairs

But here's a sneak peek at just some of the gems to be snapped up:

  • The Complete Plays, William Shakespeare, The Folio Society, 8-vol set in two slipcases

  • The World Crisis, Winston Churchill, 5-vol set

  • Tales of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and Little Ragged Blossom, May Gibbs (possible first editions)
