The Lifeline Gold Coast $2 Clothing Sale is back at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Broadbeach on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April from 8am to 5pm and it's free to enter.

If you are a fan of pre-loved clothing, love a bargain or adore shopping then this is the perfect event as every item of clothing - as the name suggests - is just $2. No hidden costs or tricks here, every item is only $2. It isn't often you get the opportunity to grab armfuls of clothing and only pay $20-$30 for them.

10 tonnes of pre-loved quality clothing has been donated this year from pants, shirts, tops, shorts, hats, socks, swimwear and even underwear - although I am not so keen on the secondhand undies!

You can find some top clothing brands for women, men, children, babies, teens and elders. All the clothing is laid out on long tables and are in clear men, women and children sections.

It does feel like a bit of a huge task when you first arrive as there is so much to look at. My tips would be to have a few pieces in mind that you want to buy so to keep focus, also take your time and go back a few times to different sections. Most people tend to grab everything that catches their eye, then when done take a seat by the side and go through everything again - they put into a yes and no pile then return the no's.

For adult clothes you have to rummage around to find some really decent things. But I think this sale is excellent for kids clothes - they grow so quickly and don't get much wear out of items so often you can find some really nice almost new things. Which saves a load of money and means that now unneeded clothing is going to another family.

My mother-in-law is a dress maker and does alterations, and it never occurred to me before, but she goes to the lifeline sale looking for fabrics she likes and changes them into different garments. She took this white shirt and made me a skirt out of it. So, when you are looking around, remember that you could get something and get it altered to fit or changed to something new. At such a cheap starting price, paying for alterations will still give you a bargain.

Plus, as if getting lots of bargains wasn't enough to put a smile on your face, you also know that all proceeds from the Lifeline Gold Coast $2 Clothing Sale helps raise much needed funds for Lifeline services such as the 24-hour 13 11 14 Crisis Support Line available for all Queenslanders.

The GCCEC is located in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast Highway. There is a bus and tram stop right outside and also lots of onsite parking available - although it is $10, so you may want to park in the Oasis Shopping Centre on Victoria Avenue, as that is free for 3 hours. When you arrive just follow the signs to the exhibition room. There are coffee vending machines and last time there was a sausage sizzle outside too.

A very worthy charity and a great event to find some clothing bargains.
