Sydney's best loved book fairs are coming to Chatswood on the weekend of Saturday January 31st and Sunday February 1st 2015.This exciting event is organised by Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury and will be held at The Civic Pavilion, The Concourse from 8 am to 5 pm daily.All money raised from the event will go directly to Lifeline to assist the community with much needed support in many critical areas, including: 24 hour Telephone Counselling Individual and Group Counselling Financial Counselling Suicide Crisis Support Suicide Bereavement Support Groups Problem Gambling Counselling Community Aid Emergency Relief Anger Management groups for Men
Over the two-days, book lovers will be able to peruse over 40,000 quality used books in the modern and vibrant setting of The Civic Pavilion - this includes:The biggest ever selection of Foreign Language books, including Chinese, French German Hebrew and many other languages. There will also be Harry Potter books in both Chinese and Japanese.A very large section of Children's books catering for ages 0-6, 6-12 and Teenagers. The range includes many of today's most popular children's authors in a variety of formats.The widest range of Sci-Fi, with a special display of the classics from the 1950s,60s & 70s.A wonderful selection of books in the Arts section including many on artists and their works, plus a fantastic selection of beautiful books on photography from around the world.School textbooks – A very wide range including many high school Maths and Science Books in new condition. Many English texts (including videos) for 2015 HSC English and beyond.A great selection of comics, Manga and Graphic Novels, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Spiderman. Also copies of Art Spiegelman's Pulitzer Prize winning "The Complete Maus".A comprehensive range of CDs, DVDs & VCDs including a large array of genres, in both Chinese and Japanese.
The Lifeline volunteer team has placed all the items into 40 clearly marked categories to make it easy for book lovers to make their choices. The category listing includes:Adult fiction, which includes the sub categories of General Fiction, Literature, Romance, Old Favourites, Westerns, Large print, Science Fiction and Fantasy with a wide choice of authors and book styles including small, medium and large paperbacks as well as hard covers. The range includes all the most popular authors and their latest books as well as some of the harder to find earlier publications. Prize winning authors and Book Club choices are well represented here as well.Children's fiction is sorted into categories according to age: 0-6, 6-12, and Teenagers. These attractive and colourful books include many of today's most popular children's authors in a variety of formats. The beautiful picture books will delight young readers, "Thomas the Tank", "That's Not my Puppy" to "Mr. Men" while older readers will enjoy the up to date range of authors and book styles including Judy Moody, Captain Underpants and of course, Harry Potter. For Young Adults and Teens there is a wonderful collection of John Marsden books and the popular series "Eragon" and "The Hunger Games". There is also a section of classic authors such as Beatrix Potter & Enid Blyton.Non-fiction includes a large and diverse range of quality books clearly presented into the following categories: History & Politics, Military, Transport, Australiana, Cookery, Biography, Sport, Craft, Lifestyle & Travel, Education, Science, Art, Media, Architecture and Music (including CDs and DVDs). These categories include beautiful coffee table books right through to practical "How to" manuals and everything in between. Rare and Collectibles - This is a very special category with up to 1,000 books, including a large range of books from The Folio Society.
