Lifeline bookfest 2017
A big book bonanza

Are you still looking for that perfect summer read? The 2017 Lifeline Bookfest is a bonanza for literary lovers with a smorgasbord of books on offer. Whether you are looking for the classics, children's books, gardening or travel books, enjoy browsing through a massive 4km of tables of books, magazines, puzzles and music.

Items start from as little as $1.00. Importantly, all funds raised go towards the vital and life-saving community services provided by Lifeline including suicide prevention, bereavement support and family and crisis support. Lifeline is a non-profit organisation and receives 400 000 calls for assistance each year.

With a book sale this big, the Lifeline bookfest needs Halls 3 and 4 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to house it. Volunteers will be on hand to help with your search. Any avid reader will agree that it's easy for well-read books to pile up. You can also donate new, used or unwanted books to Lifeline shops or Lifeline bins.

In a world of kindles and a preoccupation with Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest; it's great to see that the humble book is still in vogue.

I want to go to this, but I am already in danger of being buried alive under the giant pile of books I have been meaning to read.
