Stirling Player’s South Australian premiere of 'Life Without Me' by Daniel Keene.
A funny, heart-warming and slightly absurdist play that invites us to question our own life and what is meaningful by understanding others. The story gathers a group of seven strangers in a rundown hotel and dissects their brief interactions. The play invites the audience to ponder their own purpose in life by following this cast of drifters who are searching for meaning in the everyday. The hotel foyer becomes a space between real life and a micro-society within the hotel.
As one of the characters says,
"My life just seems to go on, but without me in it."
This philosophical and humorous play will appeal to anyone who has stayed put while trying to move on.
Come and be transported to 'anywhere, nowhere and somewhere in between' as the characters discover things about themselves and discover a way forward and a way out of a very strange and rundown hotel. The comedy and pathos are recognisably Australian and will leave you contemplating your own realities and wanting the best for the cast of eccentric guests.
Daniel Keene's plays are always profound and quirky and have been performed more times internationally than any other Australian playwright.
