Get your creativity flowing and your passion flying
Looking for an outlet for your passion and creativity? Look no further than Life is the Dancer to get those artistic yearnings on the page, those feet moving to the rhythm of a dancer and those creative juices flowing.
This flexible creative space in a charming, blue and white painted building on Richmond's Bridge Road hosts individual and group classes, short courses and workshops of various kinds, including adult and kids art classes, yoga, meditation, salsa, and rhythm and groove dance classes.
Life is the Dancer's salsa and Booty the Beats rhythm and groove dance classes are perfect for getting your groove back. Booty the Beats' "elegant afro beat dance moves" are fuelled by the energetic dance style born out of Jamaican Dancehall – your shoulders, hips and feet will be popping, shaking and grinding to the beat. In the salsa classes you will learn the footwork fundamentals, must have turn patterns, flawless spins, dips and tricks; turning you into an alluring Latin dancer in no time.
Aimed at developing artistic talent and increasing artistic confidence, available art classes include Still Life in Watercolour with artist Robyn M and an untutored (but assisted) Life Drawing/Painting Class. Students will be taught light and shade, blending, bleeding, masking techniques and the basics of perspective and composition while painting still life objects from observation using watercolour materials in the Still Life in Watercolour class.
The yoga classes available at Life is the Dancer include Dosha Vinyasa Yoga with Aileen David and Hatha, Ashtanga and Flow Fusion Yoga with Shannon F. Classes are divided up into beginner and intermediate in one class, and advanced in another.
All about enriching lives and inspiring creativity and happiness, Life is the Dancer aspires to create a dynamic environment that attracts people who wish to come together and connect through art, dance, meditation, yoga and more and provides a space for such people to do just that – to come together and feel good.
Life is the Dancer is a great outlet for some me time, and provides a great way to centre yourself and mellow out during a busy week of work in the big smoke, whether your preference for relaxation and escapism is art, dance or meditation.
