I am a mum of two and Primary School teacher whose aim is to never be home during the midday movie. I believe that I am only ever a car trip away from an adventure.
Wear your circus flair and help make a childs wish come true
Life is a Circus is the fun-filled theme of this year's annual gala ball, hosted by the Melbourne and Bayside Volunteer Branches of Make-A-Wish® Australia, and now it's just around the corner – Friday 19th of July in fact. Yes, preparations are in full swing to bring Melbourne a night of great food, glorious bubbles and entertainment to get your pulse racing and imagination soaring.
The Grand Hyatt will transform into a Big Top for the Night
The Grand Hyatt will transform into a 'big top' for the occasion, but forget salty popcorn and jam donuts – this is a classy, black tie affair and a chance to frock up and get gorgeous. Circus attire is optional so you could consider enhancing your outfit with a touch of circus flair. What a perfect way to hide a bad hair day or cover up that pimple that always tries to spoil a big night out. And how your feet will thank you after dancing the night away in big squeaky clown shoes instead of stilettos.
Circus Attire Optional But Fun
As well as aerial and stunt acts, a live band and the obligatory celebrity spotting, there will be plenty of other ways to celebrate and get into the festivities. Thanks to a host of generous sponsors and donations, the night is full of surprises ready to come home with you. A must is a ticket in the Wine Wall raffle, but be warned, as past experience has proved this to be a hugely popular part of the night that always attracts a big crowd. So get in quickly or the towering wall of wine will be looking more like an empty cellar than a wine lover's paradise.
Live and silent auctions will be in full swing during the evening and really, what can be a better ending to a fabulous night than winning a treasure and supporting a great cause all at the same time?
Make-A-Wish has been bringing hope, strength and joy to seriously-ill children in Australia since 1985, having granted over 7,000 life-changing wishes thus far. That is a lot of deserving children and families to have reached.
But Make-A-Wish is wholly dependent upon generous community and corporate support to continue making a positive difference to children with life-threatening medical conditions and that's what this night is all about. Event proceeds go directly into wish granting and if that doesn't give you a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, visit their website and read about some of the life-changing experiences delivered so far. Everything from theme park family holidays, to cubby houses, to hugs with stars and idols. What more could one wish for children whose battles are far more challenging than any child should ever have to face.
Tickets for this great event are $145 per person – incredible value for all that's included: a gourmet three-course meal, all the beer, wine and soft drink you can consume (responsibly) and entertainment galore!
You can purchase tickets online and to tempt even further, one lucky guest will win a limo transfer to or from the ball. Now that may even get the celebrities' heads turning.
