Together Apart: Life in Lockdown

Cover, Together Apart: Life in Lockdown
This timely coffee table book created by photographer Jude van Daalen and journalist Belinda Jackson is a time capsule of sorts. The two neighbours spent the lockdown capturing the images and stories of 60 different people from their immediate area. Stuck within a five kilometre limit, as all Melburnians were, these two professionals decided to join forces and create something to add to the annals of history, a glimpse into the lives of people riding the waves of life in lockdown.

The stories are a combination of haunting tales of sadness, despair, loneliness and fear, and the joy felt by families and communities embracing each other and the time that they've been given as a respite from a busy lifestyle. Teachers missed their students, kids desperately missed their friends, adult children missed their ageing parents, but little ones drew rainbows in chalk on the footpaths and some families even decided to make a sea change.
