Learn a little local history when you take the kids to the current Museum of Brisbane Life in Irons exhibition at the Museum of Brisbane. Moreton Bay penal colony was harsh for our convict ancestors, who were transported to Australia from Britain from 1824 until the colony closed in 1839. This exhibition includes children's activities, as well as a public program providing insight into daily life during this period through displays, artwork, personal accounts and a display of UNESCO listed original documents from the penal colony period from Queensland State Archives. A day out at the Brisbane Museum and the Brisbane City Hall is a great activity for school holidays and rainy days.
