Life drawing refers to the practice of drawing the human figure based on a live model. The model can be dressed or undressed, although the challenge of getting the curves and shadows of the naked human body right means that nude models are often used in life drawing classes.
Brisbane artists can hone their skills at
Brisbane Life Drawing, a chilled out weekly event for artists. Each week, a nude model is provided for participants to sketch or paint. The sessions are untutored and are recommended for more advanced artists with some prior instruction.
Brisbane Life Drawing takes place every Wednesday night from 7.00pm until 9.00pm at
Jugglers Art Space (
103 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley). The cost is $10 for students and $12 for everyone else. Participants should bring their own materials; tables, easels and the model will be provided.
Jugglers Art Space is an artist run organisation that provides resources to Brisbane artists. The establishment provides low cost studios and exhibition spaces in five locations across Australia and also provides services and support for local artists.
