Every Friday night in Adelaide slightly away from the after work crowds filling pubs and restaurants, you can find students, art lovers and artists expressing their creative side.

In a small community centre in the south west corner of the city you will find the group drawing, sketching and painting in a life drawing class. The class starts with the model in several 5 minute seated and standing poses to get you warmed up and the creative juices flowing. The shorter poses are helpful if you haven't drawn in a while, as you have to focus on making quick sketches and get no time to become critical about your work. The poses gradually increase up to to 20 minutes to allow you to focus on the detail and light and shade of each pose.

The class isn't led by a teacher, but you can't help but draw inspiration from watching the techniques used and seeing the final sketches of the many talented people in the group.

The class welcomes all levels of ability. At the end of the session you walk away with several pieces of artwork created by you, not a bad start to a Friday night. You supply your own pencil's paints and paper. The class fee covers the cost of the life model and there is a different model every week.
