Located in a quiet back-street of Kenwick, just a short distance from the Canning River, Liddelow Homestead is one the earliest buildings in the City of Gosnells. Originally known as Kenwick Park, the homestead was built in1883 by prominent local citizen John Liddelow, and surrounded by 2,555 acres of rich productive farmland.

As the years passed by, the property was sold several times and gradually subdivided, with the homestead, out-buildings and pastures being utilised for various business ventures. Finally, in 1972 it was purchased by the Shire of Gosnells and over the next few years, gradually restored. These days the old homestead is one of Perth's most dynamic community arts centres, the Liddelow Homestead Arts and Crafts Club, which holds a wide variety of classes in various creative media as well as exhibitions of the art-work created by its members.

Taking place on Saturday 28th and Sunday the 29th of November, from 10am until 4pm, Liddelow Homestead will once again be holding its annual exhibition. A wide range of beautiful work will be on display throughout the homestead – most of which will be on sale to the public. These will include paintings, drawings, sculpture, pottery, mosaics, woodwork, spinning, crochet, patch-work and much more. Many of the artisans who will contribute to the exhibition have many years of experience, and the workmanship on display will reflect their expertise. If you're looking for beautiful handmade Christmas presents this year, the exhibition will definitely be a great spot to check out.

As mentioned above, work will be exhibited throughout the homestead over the weekend, as well as in the three small gift-shops that are situated on the premises. These are great spots to purchase smaller items and Christmas stocking fillers. There will also be a special Christmas stall where you can find gorgeous Christmas-themed goodies such as handmade tree decorations and other adornments.

In a nutshell, if you love the fine arts and high quality handmade wares, be sure to mark the annual Liddelow Homestead Arts and Crafts exhibition into your social calendar. Taking place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of November from 10am until 4pm, it's a great destination to head to, either for a special one-of-a-kind gift, home decorations or simply something beautiful to pamper yourself. Refreshments will be available over the weekend, and there will also be a children's area where youngsters can keep occupied while their parents look at the lovely creative work on display.

Liddelow Homestead is situated at 7 Cooper Avenue in Kenwick. To learn more about the Liddelow Homestead Arts and Crafts Club, take a look at their website , email [email protected] or call 08 9459 7228.
