With its retro milk bar flair, breezy blue-and-white interior and prime position in a post-war shopping strip opposite Graceville Railway Station (which is itself heritage-listed due to its 1950's modernist design), Lick! Ice Cream was always going to charm the passing parade.

But add in the warmer weather, and the 18 delicious ice cream and sorbet flavours on offer at Lick! Ice Cream's new flagship store, and it's easy to come up with at least that many reasons to return again, and again, and again.

After throwing open the shutters in November 2015, Lick! Ice Cream , the flagship store of Brisbane's darling dessert company, has already garnered a large and faithful following. For those who enjoy simple pleasures, there is ice-cream served in cups or waffle cones, while those seeking a more sophisticated dessert bar experience can choose from a selection including doffles (a doughnut-waffle lovechild), ice-cream sandwiches and itty-bitty beautifully-decorated cakes.

Banana splits served with sugar-torched banana (how good does that sound?) and warm apple pie served with Suttons Spiced Cider ice cream (from Suttons Farm at Stanthorpe) are also on the menu. Then there's the range of ice-cream spiders, milkshakes, coffees, fruit frappes and iced teas to choose from if you've worked up a thirst at the nearby cinemas or shops.

Ice cream flavours include all of those you've come to expect - cookies and cream, peppermint choc chip, rum and raisin and vanilla bean - as well as more unusual variants such as Redskin, salted peanut, bubblegum and marshmallow and caramel miso (test spoons of which were constantly being ordered on the Friday afternoon we visited).

Lick! Ice Cream has already fashioned a reputation as Brisbane's leading supplier of customised ice cream and sorbet - and is particularly acclaimed for its iconic strawberry ice cream available every year at the Ekka. The 100 per cent natural product, featuring no preservatives or additives, uses only premium ingredients, sourced from local suppliers where possible.
