Picnic, beautiful jazz, glass of wine and a sunset
There could be few things sweeter than sitting with a glass of wine and a picnic listening to the silky voice of Libby Hammer singing the blues, while the sun sets over the beautiful vines of Upper Reach Winery in the Swan Valley.
Libby and her quintet are the third of Upper Reach's four concerts at the winery to celebrate the summer vintage.

The concert on Saturday March 3 offers people a chance to bring along their picnic blankets from 5.30pm and spread out on the lawn, enjoy their picnic with a glass of Upper Reach wine and then watch Libby performing from 6.15pm as the sun goes down.
Upper Reach owner Laura Pearse says there are few performers more ideally suited to the intimate surrounds of the winery than Libby, who will be performing a mix of cabaret jazz, soul-drenched blues and spirited swing.
And for those looking to go slightly more upmarket, dinner at the newly renamed Riverbrook Restaurant is a great way to enjoy a two-course dinner at the restaurant which overlooks the band performing on the stage below. Dinner, with an entrée tasting plate along with a main course from the restaurant menu and concert tickets is $99.
If you want to bring along your own picnic, general admission tickets are $39, $18 for five to 17-year-olds with kids under four free.
Libby is a performer who likes to engage with her audience, making Upper Reach a perfect venue where the audience is close and able to get up and dance on the grass in front of the stage.
With a background in stage, starting out in 1981 with chorus parts in professional productions of La Bohème and Annie at Perth's His Majesty's Theatre in Perth, Libby kept her hand in, while studying with different amateur productions.
After completing a Bachelor's degree in French at the University of Western Australia in 1990, she started performing professionally in the circus musical Barnum at His Majesty's.
Libby fell in love with the sound of jazz and studied at the WA Academy of Performing Arts in 1992, which in 1996, eventually led her to form Hip Mo' Toast jazz quartet with three fellow students.
These days Libby performs in a range of line-ups as part of a collective of professional musicians. As a guest soloist, she has performed at WAYJO alongside Australian jazz icons, such as James Morrison and Joe Chindamo.
Libby has also performed in Simply Sinatra with James Flynn, with Tommy Tycho and The West Australian Symphony Orchestra, at the Fremantle International Jazz Festival with jazz tapper Josh Hilberman (USA), and a Perth Jazz Society performance with Christoph Spendel (Germany) and two-time Grammy Winner Gary Bartz (USA).
Upper Reach Winery is at 77 Memorial Avenue, Baskerville and tickets for the concert are available at www.uppereach.com.au
