Letting go of the Past

Published August 14th 2015

In this public talk His Eminence the 7th Dzogchen Rinpoche will explain how past regrets and hurt can often be the cause of on-going stress and unhappiness – but it doesn't have to be this way.

We try to come to terms with the past but the methods we often apply such as brooding, trying to ignore the experience, suppressing our emotions or feeling guilty are hardly helping.

From the Buddhist point of view we can understand the cause of our difficult experiences and what we can learn from them. Seeing our hard times in this light can transform the problems that give us so much misery into a solution, resulting in less obstacles and giving us more confidence and strength.

During the talk His Eminence will provide practical methods that can help us to heal and overcome blockages from the past. Being introduced to the Dzogchen view of who we really are, we discover that our true nature is pure from the beginning and unaffected by any experience, allowing us to naturally let go and move on with a happy and fulfilled life.

This is a unique opportunity to receive guidance from Dzogchen Rinpoche, who regularly tours the world sharing his wisdom and knowledge.

The Maroochydore public talk will be held at the Millwell Rd Community Centre, 11 Millwell Rd East on Friday 16 October at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm).

Tickets are priced at $25 and $20 for concession card holders and can be purchased at www.trybooking.com/DEDU

The talk will be followed by a teaching on 'Living In The Present Moment 'on Saturday 17 October at Kawana Island Meeting Place, 5 Grand Pde, Kawana Island, Sunshine Coast between 10am and 4pm. Tickets are priced at $110 and $80 for concession card holders and can be purchased at www.trybooking.com/DEEL

How to Overcome Stress - Dzogchen Retreat

Dzogchen Rinpoche will lead a five-day residential Dzogchen retreat entitled 'How to Overcome Stress' between Monday 19 and Saturday 24 October in Beechmont, west of the Gold Coast.

"Ultimately you don't need to look for anything. You have everything you need. Everything is with you but the only thing you need is to recognise."

His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche

During these five days, Dzogchen Rinpoche will continue his teachings on the skilful Dzogchen methods of healing and removing obstacles from the past, giving us a more natural and healthy perception of ourselves, our environment and experiences.

By guiding us to stop creating the source of present and future difficulties, we begin developing trust and confidence. Recognising that we already have everything we need within us, we stop the stress that comes from looking for happiness and achievement outside – and start to have genuine fun instead!
