Let's Pretend This Never Happened - Book Review

The beloved bloggess - Jenny Lawson - has finally released her much-awaited book Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir. In true Jenny fashion it's a rambling blend of the hilarious, the ridiculous, the bizarre, and the tragic. Only the humble author was surprised when it immediately shot to the top of the NY Times Best Seller List, and settled in for a three-week stay.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened

Always open about her tussles with mental illness, the book takes readers yet deeper into the terrifying world of living with an anxiety disorder, opens up about the tragedy of miscarriage, and isn't afraid to face the tough questions - like, why isn't Jesus classified as a zombie? I guarantee you will laugh out loud as Jenny's many personalities argue on the page for your amusement. It's even better when Victor - the long-suffering husband - manages to get a word in edgewise.

A book so honest it may just have put me off childbirth for life, written for anyone who's ever had a thought that really shouldn't be shared... and then shared it anyway.

The book jacket boldly declares that Jenny "is considered one of the funniest writers of our generation by at least three or four people". I'd certainly put my name on that list, and rate this book a hearty 5 out of 5 wine slushies. But, you don't have to take my word for it. Check out Jenny's blog and decide for yourself.
